Including the Salesians of Don Bosco in Your Will or Trust
A bequest to the Salesians of Don Bosco (Salesian Society) is a simple way to make a lasting impact on future generations while supporting our mission.
How It Works
1. Decide whether you’d like to leave:
A percentage of your estate or trust balance, or
A specific dollar amount or asset.
2. Include the Salesians of Don Bosco in your will or trust
3. Let us know about your gift so we can thank you and celebrate your generosity now.
Your assets remain under your control during your lifetime, and you can update your plans if circumstances change. You may also designate your gift for a specific purpose—just check with us to ensure it can be used as intended. Under current tax law, there is no limit on the estate tax deduction for charitable bequests.
Sample Bequest Language
Residual Bequest I give and devise to the Salesians of Don Bosco (Salesian Society) (Tax ID #94-1642297), located in San Francisco, CA, all (or ___%) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, for its general support (or for the support of [specific fund/program]).
Specific Bequest I give and devise to the Salesians of Don Bosco (Salesian Society) (Tax ID #94-1642297), located in San Francisco, CA, the sum of $_______ (or asset) for its general support (or for the support of [specific fund/program]).
Contingent Bequest If [name] is not living at the time of my death, I give and devise to the Salesians of Don Bosco (Salesian Society) (Tax ID #94-1642297), located in San Francisco, CA, $_______ (or all/___% of the residue of my estate) for its general support (or for the support of [specific fund/program]).
Retirement Plan Beneficiary
You may name the Salesians of Don Bosco (Tax ID #94-1642297) as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), Keogh, or profit-sharing plan. This option:
Avoids income and estate taxes on the plan assets.
Lets you keep full control of the assets during your lifetime.
Simply request a change-of-beneficiary form from your plan administrator and notify us once completed.
Adding a Gift to an Existing Will
You don’t need to rewrite your entire will to add a charitable gift. A simple amendment, called a codicil, can be used.
